Romans 8:37 AMPYet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us.
What does victory mean to you? It is different from one person to another. To some a new job, a great career, promotion, healing, a good husband, a good wife, peace in our home, God fearing children, salvation of a dear loved one, financial breakthrough etc. the list is endless.
But we must understand the victory Christ wrought for us: salvation, eternal life.
1 Corinthians 15:57 AMP
But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory making us conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because Jesus resurrected we shall be resurrected, because Christ obtained victory over death, we also shall obtain victory over death, by forgiving us our sins and giving us eternal life.
2 Peter 1:3 KJV
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
It is important to note that though victory has been won for us by Jesus in every area of our lives the devil is relentless , the accuser never stops to try fighting us with the thoughts of fear.
Jn 10:10 The thief comes to steal kill and destroy but I have come to give life and life more abundantly "
But you must receive it / hold on to this victory.
1) By Prayers: God answers prayers, He answered the prayers of Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Joshua, Daniel, Nehemiah and Jesus to mention but a few, He will answer yours.
Praise and worship Him.
Pray in Faith. "This is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith."
2) Impartation, laying on of hands by servants of God.
2 Timothy 1:5-6 KJV
When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
3) Avoiding sin
Romans 6:23 AMP
For the wages which sin pays is death, but the bountiful free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord.
4) Mind what you say. Proverbs 18:21 AMP
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it for death or life.
Positive confessions. Do not curse or talk yourself down.
Do not complain but be grateful. Complaints attracts what you complain about while Gratitude attracts what you are grateful for.
5) Study the word. Joshua 1:8 AMP
This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.
In the text,
Nay in all these things.. No matter what you are going through.
Like Jonah beneath the waves he lost all hope. But when he cried out in desperation and despair, God heard him and rescued him.
There is no place where the Lord cannot hear and respond to us—no pit too deep, no trouble too terrible, no situation too difficult for God. When we cry out to him from whatever “belly” we find ourselves in, he will answer.
This is all the more reason why the season of the birth of Jesus is significant. If he had not been born, if He had not come to give life and life more abundantly. What if?
We must respond with gratitude for this victory handed over to us by loving one another and giving as He gave.
